About Us

Botho University (BU) was established in 1997 in Botswana and has rapidly evolved over the years to become a leading multi-disciplinary tertiary education provider spread across 5 countries in Africa, namely Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Namibia, and Ghana, with an additional Online Learning Campus. All programs offered by Botho University are approved by the respective regulatory bodies in all countries of operation. In Eswatini, all programmes offered by Botho University  are approved by the Eswatini Higher Education Council (ESHEC). The establishment, alignment and conformity to the Eswatini Higher Education landscape was informed by various national and regional policies, plans and protocols including the Eswatini Higher Education Act, SADC Protocol on Education and Training, National Education and Sector Policy 2018 and the National Development Strategy (NDS).

Botho University’s goal in Eswatini is to offer academic programmes of high intellectual and entrepreneurial nature in fields that meet the needs of the Eswatini economy, in order to develop a nation that is already proud of its culture. Focusing on teaching and learning, research, community engagement and internalization, Botho University Eswatini will constantly address the unique needs, competencies and characteristics of the Eswatini environment, with the ultimate goal of cementing our position as the preferred higher education institution within the Eswatini Higher Education sector.

Botho University as an institution overall offers qualifications from Certificate to Masters degree levels, with established plans for Doctoral programs in the foreseeable future. The university has over 4500 students and nearly 300 staff members.

In Eswatini, Botho University currently offers academic programmes under three faculties namely:

  • Faculty of Business & Accounting
  • Faculty of Engineering and Technology
  • Faculty of Health and Education

Academic Board

The Academic Board shall be the primary academic governing body of the institution, responsible for analyzing and ratifying the decisions of the Faculty Programmes Committee and the Faculty Assessment Committee of each Faculty, the University Research and Consultancy Committee as well as setting institution wide academic policies and regulations.

Advisory Council

The Advisory Council consists of members from the community and industry, and expert educators along with staff, and student representatives.
